Tesco manager in Leicester, Vishnu Samgi saved the life of an 8 week old baby by using first aid techniques that he had learnt from his work training course just months before!

The 23 year old was driving to work on April 2nd, when he noticed a woman in distress cradling a baby by the bus stop. He stopped the car and heard the woman call for help as her baby had stopped breathing

Vishnu took the baby who was lifeless and started performing CPR whilst a call to the paramedics were made

He stated to Leicester Mercury “I knew what to do because I had had a full day’s training on a first aid course at work six months ago," he said.

“The ambulance worker on the end of the line said I was doing a great job but to just keep going until the paramedics arrived.

“They arrived minutes later and took over. They took mum and baby to hospital. I stayed with the dad for a while to make sure he was okay. Then I went to work.”

Mum said Vishnu is a hero.

A spokesman for Tesco said: “We are very proud of what Vishnu did.

“It is very good to note that he used skills he learned on a training course set up by Tesco.”
