2020 was an extremely challenging year for all of us and with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and the national lockdowns we are in, due to the new variant of the virus. I think we can all agree it has not been the best start to 2021! However, with the authorisation of a number of vaccines here in the UK, lets hope that we can all look forward to a safer, healthier year ahead of us!

During these extremely difficult times, we here at First Rate Training would like to ensure our customers that we are doing everything we can to ensure, the health and safety of our customers and delegates through their training courses.

We have adapted and implemented a number of strategies that allow us to continue to provide a positive, informative learning experience. These include:

Open Courses

The HSE has recently published a first aid update in relation to delivery strongly recommending that practical elements of Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) and First Aid at Work (FAW) and requalification are delivered face to face, so that competency of students’ skills can be assessed properly. We understand that this can still be a very worrying time for employers and employees needing to obtain or upskill their current qualifications. For some individuals entering a face-to-face training environment with others can be a very daunting, stressful experience in current circumstances. The safety of delegates is imperative, and we have carried out an extensive evaluation of our open course venue to ensure that:

  • All open courses will be held at The Mercure Swansea Hotel at present
  • The venue has sufficient space to meet social distancing requirements of 2 metres.
  • A maximum of 12 delegates in attendance to allow for space.
  • Delegates are required to wear face coverings.
  • Hand washing facilities/ Hand sanitiser is provided.
  • Refreshments are either provided in disposable cups or delegates are encouraged to bring their own.
  • Delegates experiencing symptoms in relation to COVID as are asked to contact us prior to attending any scheduled courses.

On-site training

Whilst providing training on-site to customers to ensure that COVID guidelines are adhered to protect the safety of your employees and ours we strongly recommend that:

  • The training room/venue has sufficient space for the 2-metre social distancing
  • Delegates are required to wear face coverings.
  • Hand washing facilities and/or sanitiser is provided
  • Refreshments are provided by the employer or delegates to bring their own.
  • Any delegates experiencing COVID related symptoms to contact their employer or us.

Virtual Training

COVID-19 has changed a lot of things about how we live, socialise, work and travel. One of the greatest changes we have seen is that many people are now working away from the more traditional environments of offices or ‘central’ places for work, and are now working from home.

We have recognised this, and to ensure your employees are able to update and/or maintain their skills and knowledge. We are now able to offer our training courses via the Zoom and Teams platforms delivered remotely by our fantastic, experienced training team.

Online Learning

We continue to offer our extensive range of online courses and this has proved to be hugely successfully during COVID-19 within a number of industries. Our online courses are quick and easy to access, cost effective to business as its efficient and flexible, and have the added bonus of instant certification.
