Manual Handling refers to any activity that involves the use of the body's muscles to lift, lower, push, pull, carry, or move objects.

It can lead to injury if not done properly and can also lead to STRESS, both physical and psychological.

PHYSICAL stress from manual handling occurs when workers are required to lift heavy objects, work in awkward postures, or perform repetitive tasks.

PSYCHOLOGICAL stress from manual handling can occur when workers feel pressured to meet demanding targets, have insufficient support or training, or are exposed to hazardous working conditions.

Employers have a legal duty to protect their employees from the risks associated with manual handling by providing adequate training, equipment, and support.

What can I do as an Employee?

  1. Maintain good posture
  2. Take regular breaks
  3. Reporting any concerns to your employer
